Screwdrivers Not Made In China
Everyone needs at least one set of screwdrivers. There are many companies making them in China. Usually cheaper screwdrivers have bits and shafts made out of inferior metals. This means that they will be more prone to stripping screws or chipping and warping. We split up the list in 3 sections by type. Manual screwdrivers have a decent selection of compananies manufacturing outside of China. With ratcheting screwdrivers, there are fewer choices. For electric screwdrivers there are only a handful of choices. As usual most electric tools are made in China and only few companies buck this trend. Overall the most high-quality screwdrivers are made by Wera, Wiha, Vessel and PB Swiss. This remains true across all categories. They are also noticiably more expensive due to material cost and cost of manufacturing in Europe and Japan.
Manual Screwdrivers
Craftsman
Craftsman is an American company. They make products all over the place. They are not ultra high quality, but are very reasonably priced. Their screwdrivers can be found in almost every store. Most of their manual screwdrivers are made in Taiwan.
Tekton
Tekton is a family-owned tools company. It is based in the USA. The website says that 74% of their current product lineup is made in Taiwan and 23% in the United States. However, all of their manual screwdrivers are made in the USA. They make high quality tools.
Channellock
Channellock is a relatively small, family-run, American tools company. All of thier tools are made in the USA and they also use American steel.
Felo
Felo is a German company. They make many screwdrivers and even have a set that has wooden handles. All of their screwdrivers are made in Germany.
Wera
Wera is a German company that makes high quality tools in the Chech Republic. They continuously innovate in all tool areas with better ergonomics and more functionality.
Vessel
Vessel is a Japnese brand that manufacutres high-end screwdrivers in Japan. It is rivaled only by pb-swiss and Wiha in the high quality category.
Klein Tools
Klein tools is an American company. They manufacture all their tools in the USA. The prices are reasonable and the screw drivers are considered middle of the road in terms of build quality.
PB Swiss
PB Swiss is a Swiss manufacturer that makes screwdrivers in Switzerland. Along with Wiha, PB Swiss is considered to be the most high quality manufacturer of screwdrivers. The price reflects the high quality and European manufacturing.
Wiha
Wiha is a German company. They sepecialize in hand tools and make one of the most high quality screwdriver sets around. They are manufactured in Germany.
Ratcheting Screwdrivers
Sata
SATA is an American tool company. They make their tools all over the world. Their ratcheting screwdriver is made in Taiwan.
Lenox
Lenox is a brand of the Amercican Stanley Black & Decker company. They manufacture a ratcheting screwdriver in Taiwan. These are fairly inexpensive and simple screwdrivers.
Megapro
MegaPro is a Canadian company that started with ratcheting screwdrivers and makes them till this day. They manufacture their ratcheting screwdriver in Canana.
Irwin Tools
Irwin is an American company that merged with American Tools in 1993. Together they make many tools all over the world. Their ratcheting screwdriver is made in Taiwan.

Gearwrench is a large US manufacturer of hand tools. Their ratcheting screwdriver is made in Taiwan.
Wera
Wera is a German company. They make very high quality hand tools. All of their tools are made in the Czech Republic.
Vessel
Vessel is a Japanese manufacturer of hand tools. Their ratcheting screwdriver has both a normal driver as well as a short one in the same tool. They manufacture all their tools in Japan
PB Swiss
PB Swiss is a very high quality manufacturer of hand tools. They manufacture everything in Switzerland. Their ratcheting screwdriver is expensive but very solidly built.

Hybro is a Korean brand. We were not able to find an Engilsh website for them. They make a couple of electric screwdrivers in Korea.
Wiha
Wiha is a German company. They mostly make high end hand tools. This electric screwdriver was made in Germany.
Bosch
Bosch is a German conglomorate that makes everything from refrigerators to wiper blades. They manuacture products all over the world. Their electric screwdriver is made in Germany and Malaysia. Most of the ones on sales in the US are made in Germany.
